Chris Sorin

his Father, Jacques Sorin, race a mini-sprint in New Bothwell. Chris has
restored a 1986 Chevy S10 and in 2006 raced it at the Gimli Dragways. He is
a 27 year old machinist who is enjoying life in the country with his wife,
Corissa and two children, Miley and Dominic. Chris purchased Eric Guyot's

Ryan Harms

The NLSA is pleased to welcome new driver Ryan Harms and Al Harms (Crew Chief).  Hailing from Morden, MB, the Harms operate a family run construction company building houses in southern Manitoba.  Ryan has raced motocross, snowmobiles, and maybe a little too much street racing.  Looking forward to racing something with a roll cage and seat belts.  The car is a 1996 Henchcraft with 2007 Suzuki engine, formerly owned by Winkler's Chris Unrau.

Dr. Scotty Brown & Son Steven

Super Stock driver Scott Brown and his son Steven have joined the NLSA.  Scott purchased Amber Balcaen’s #10 car and will pilot the car until son Steven turns 14 years of age in August.  Scott has raced for 12 years mostly in the Super Stock class, winning over 60 features including back-to-back Balcaen Memorial Super Stock Specials. The current owner of SMD Motorsports looks forward to racing with the NLSA in the spring of 2010.

Chris Unrau

Kevin Kotowich

Congratulations to Kevin Kotowich of East St. Paul, Manitoba. Kevin purchased a 2001 Bailey roller out of Ohio. Kevin Kotowich is a 23 year old apprentice in the plumbing trade. One quick spin in Chris Bowman's car sent him selling his boat and buying this car. He's from East St. Paul but soon to be a homeowner in Cooks Creek, Manitoba where plans of a practice track are already underway! He's excited to be in this club and racing with us. One other note that he has raced both motocross and sno-cross and is a talented and gutsy freestyle jumper on both bikes and sleds, having built and used his own ramps by invitation at various events here in Manitoba.

Dave Sobczak

Congratulations to Dave Sobczak of East St. Paul, Manitoba.  Dave will be competing in the Northern Lightning Sprint Association series in 2009.  An eleven year veteran of the NOSA tour, he has two feature wins to his credit and was the 2000 Victory Lane Speedway Sprint Car Points Champion.  Sobczak, who will be piloting a Beast Chassis in 2009, said “I am excited to get back behind the wheel of a Sprint Car!”

Amber Balcaen

Congratulations to Amber Balcaen of Winnipeg, Manitoba.  Amber will be competing in the Lightning Sprint division in 2009.  Amber is a six-year go-kart racing veteran and the daughter of 33-time Track Champion Mike Balcaen. Jennifer Carlson will be racing a 2007 Bailey that came from Massachusetts. The chassis is has now been  powder coated.  Jennifer has previously raced in karts, sports cars, and formula cars. They are looking forward to competing in the new class.

Eric Guyot just returned with a sharp 1999 Henchcraft out of New York.  The car has raced with the Central New York Sprints, and the East Coast Mini Sprint Association.  It has been raced as both a 750 c.c. and 1000 c.c. car, and won the East Coast Mini Sprint Association Stock 1000c.c. Championship in 2006

Darren Pallen

Darren Pallen races a 2008 Bailey Chassis Company Lightning Sprint.  Darren raced both Lightning and Full-sized sprint cars in the early to mid 1990s.  Darren is the local dealer for Bailey Chassis Company along with S&S Headers, TP Wings, Keizer Wheels, Saldana Racing Products, Butlerbuilt Seats, Outerwears, Rebel Gear, and Advanced Racing Suspension.

Jeff Laurin

Jeff Laurin just arrived home from Ohio with a clean 2007 Bailey Lightning Sprint.  The car was originally raced as a 1000cc car in both the American Mini-Sprint Association and the Midwest Mini Sprint Association, and will compete with the NLSA in 2009.
